Math and Science
In math we are hard at work learning to count in the teens! We are also working on using ten-frames to count and are learning to match up numbers with the correct number of objects. In science, we learned all about fire safety, and even had a visit from the firemen!

Reading and Writer’s Workshop
We have been working hard on reviewing our letter sounds and rhyming words. We have also been working on labeling our pictures and spelling out words by writing the sounds that we hear. We are learning to identify the character in a story and the difference between fiction and nonfiction books. Finally, we have introduced the site word “can”. So far we have introduced the following site words; the, see, like, go, I, a, can.

Don’t Forget

· To write your student’s name in all coats, hats, and gloves that you send to school.

· To sign communication log and to mark lunch choices

· October book logs are due on Wednesday, 10/31

Face Painting

On Wednesday, October 31^st, student council will be offering face painting during lunch for $1. All proceeds will go towards breast cancer research.

Like a Monkey!

What fun we are having learning our letters and sounds!!
We have been learning about the vowel combination "oo", as in tooth and moose. We realized this is also the sound a monkey makes! Thanks to this song, we won't forget the "oo" sound! Enjoy!

Go Away Big Green Monster!

We enjoyed reading Go Away Big Green Monster! by Ed Emberly as we were learning to read and spell "GREEN". Then we made our own monsters! See how colorful they are? That's because we used this opportunity to review some of the other color words that we have learned.

Down on the Farm!

We had our Kindergarten Music Program earlier this month. The kindergartners serenaded us with many farm songs. We even heard some animal sounds and got to hear them play instruments for us.

Our music teacher, Mrs. Mickelson, did a great job getting them prepared. I was very impressed!

Kindergarten Celebrates Fire Prevention Month!

Firefighters visited our class today. They taught us about fire safety, showed us the fire engine, some of their equipment, and even let us tour the ambulance!
