Environment Print Book
Children are surrounded by "environmental print." It is on store signs, road signs, billboards, fast food places, boxes, wrappers, etc. Many children know their favorite cereal, candy bar and restaurant and they can recognize its logo. Children have a concrete connection to everyday print like this. We can take advantage of their natural interest to learn more about letters, sounds and words by using the print they see all around them!
Have fun reading our environmental print book! Your child will probably like to see if they can read the print their friends are holding in the pictures!

Aa and Dd Week!
This week in Kindergarten we learned about the letters Aa and Dd. We had a good time reading dinosaur books and making our own dinosaurs with pattern spikes down their backs! It was a fun way to integrate math and art into our literacy lesson.
To help us learn about the letter Aa and the short a sound, we invited our stuffed animals to visit school! We read the book, If You Take a Mouse to School, and then created our own version as you can see in this digital book!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!
This week we used the book, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, to help us learn concepts about print. Using this fun story, we were able to differentiate between capital and lower case letters and locate spaces between words. To end our week, we made these delicious coconut trees!
