Pet Project

This week we kicked off project based learning! We will use our Pet Project to explore "What makes a good pet?" through research, critical thinking, technology integration and collaboration.
We will use this blog to keep you updated on our progress.
This is a baby sugar glider that visited our room on Friday.

Holding the chicks!

Egg-citing!

This is how our incubator looked when we left Monday!

Reading Clubs

On Friday, we broke into our reading clubs to explore nonfiction text. Each club of learners selected a topic that they would like to learn about, then each group read together asking questions and discussing facts.

Here is what the experts said:
I learned....
A hurricane has an eye!
Some sharks don't have teeth!
Snakes lose their skin when they grow!
T-Rex is the king of all dinosaurs.
Train cars can take you anywhere.
This was fun!

What a great way to synergize!

Fact Fluency....

We continue to work on our Fact fluency goal. This means that we can add or subtract to 5 quickly or fluently. Today we played Dice Subtraction to help us with this goal!

Leadership Lunch!

Leadership lunches have started in our room! Each week I watch for students demonstrating leadership or practicing the 7 Habits! Those that are "caught" get to join me for lunch!
We are hoping for some warmer days so that we can eat outside....
Congrats to last week's leaders!

St. Patrick's Day Shenanigans!

What an exciting day it was! There were Leprechaun shenanigans everywhere!!

The Leprechaun visited our traps and left us gold...while making quite a mess in our room. We found clues he left all around us. Then, we used pennies to make rainbows!! That took some teamwork and planning!

The Leprechaun took the hats we made him and shrunk them to Leprechaun size! We went on a Leprechaun hunt through the school. He left us clues to follow and we finally found edible gold cookies in our classroom! What a day!!
